As a CDFA®, CAP, and Chief Compliance Officer, Kinza Burney brings a unique perspective to financial planning—one shaped by more than a decade of service in law enforcement, nearly a decade in the financial industry, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.

A Boulder, Colorado native, Kinza began her career in public service as an emergency medical technician at 18, then spent her 20s in academics and teaching. At 30, she began working with the Westminster Police Department, spending 14 years serving the community. That experience taught her the importance of preparation, attention to detail, accountability, and, most importantly, earning the trust of the people she serves. Those same principles continue to guide the way she works with clients today.

Her academic background reflects a deep curiosity and commitment to understanding people, systems, and the world around us. She earned bachelor's degrees in Biology and History, completed graduate studies in Forensic Science at Michigan State University, and earned a Master of Science in Criminology from Regis University.

After transitioning into finance, Kinza discovered a passion for helping individuals and families understand their financial options and turn complex concepts into practical strategies. With nearly 10 years in the financial industry, she especially enjoys educating clients—helping them see not only where they are today, but what may be possible with thoughtful planning and purposeful decisions.

Her areas of interest include philanthropic planning, estate strategy, tax strategy, and divorce analysis. She believes financial planning should be about much more than investments, connecting financial resources to the people, causes, experiences, and legacy that matter most.

Outside of work, Kinza is a mother of four, which has taught her more about patience, perspective, and long-term planning than any textbook ever could. She also raises beef cattle on a property east of Denver International Airport. Life on the ranch keeps her grounded and connected to the values of hard work, stewardship, responsibility, and community.

Whether working with a family preparing for the future, helping a client think through their legacy, or simply educating someone about available financial decisions, the goal remains the same: to make financial planning understandable, purposeful, and empowering.

Kinza does not believe in telling clients what they should want. Instead, she focuses on listening to what matters to them, educating them about their choices, and helping them build a strategy that makes their goals feel possible.
